According to a company statement, the ₱3 million funding is being deployed directly to Angat Pinas to secure the rapid procurement and dissemination of basic survival necessities on the ground. Unified relief pipelines are prioritizing:

  • Food packages and clean drinking water for displaced families in high-impact evacuation sectors.
  • Dedicated resources to care for affected animals, such as displaced cats and dogs, in partnership with local groups.

“In the wake of the recent devastating earthquake, our priority at Coins.ph has been simply to empower the responders who are delivering hope directly to Mindanao,” Coins.ph CEO Wei Zhou said in a statement. “This support is vital because these ongoing relief operations provide immediate, practical aid directly to displaced families where it is needed most.”

Coordination and Corporate Footprint

The joint emergency distribution pipeline is scaling up in coordination with local field responders in General Santos City and surrounding municipalities. Coins.ph is actively encouraging its millions of mobile users to join the relief campaign via official channels to accelerate aid delivery to affected communities.

“In times of disaster, every act of solidarity matters,” Angat Pinas Executive Director Raffy Magno stated. “We are grateful to Coins.ph for standing with earthquake-affected communities in Mindanao and helping ensure that timely assistance reaches areas that need it most.”

Background: Coins.ph Operations and Digital Utility

This humanitarian initiative follows a series of mainstream utility rollouts by Coins.ph.

  • The company recently expanded its national QRPh payment framework to process automated checkout conversions for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), alongside existing stablecoin integrations for Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC).

In a recent BitPinas interview during the platform’s Merchant Crawl in Bonifacio Global City, Coins.ph Global Marketing Director Amira Alawi emphasized that the platform’s expansion into everyday utility and remittances aims to serve the country’s 15 million crypto users and $38 billion Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) market. Alawi highlighted that relying on practical use cases, domestic regulatory compliance, and simple fiat-pegged infrastructure helps lower cost barriers while transitioning the mainstream public away from highly volatile or speculative market cycles.
